Description

At the Cotswold Wildlife Park, the giraffe enclosure allows visitors to view the giraffes at head height. I was fortunate enough to be standing right next to the feeding manger when this magnificent giraffe came to feed. The image captures the animal chomping on tasty grass.
In the background of this watercolour painting, I have used salt layered onto washes to create a pooling effect. I wanted to give the impression of distant foliage. For the fur of the giraffe, I have used a mixture of blended washes and textural brushwork.
