Two Fully Equipped Studios
At Backbury House Retreats, we have two beautiful and versatile spaces within self-contained accommodation from which we deliver all of our creative programmes.
They have access to a fully fitted kitchen, bathroom and an outdoor seating area with spectacular views over the surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The spaces are private and peaceful, so you can enjoy your activities in comfort and calm.
The studios are available to hire. We have included hire charges and our enquiry form at the bottom of the page.
The Main Studio
The main studio is the larger of the two spaces measuring approximately 4m x 5m and is situated on the ground floor. It has a feature fireplace with log burner (made out of an historic cider press) and stunning views over the surrounding countryside.
The space benefits from both north, east and southern aspect windows. A truly wonderful space to enjoy.
The Top Studio
The top studio is located on the first floor and also enjoys spectacular views over the Wye Valley.
It is a versatile, bright and airy space measuring approximately 3m x 4m and can be used for a number of activities including: an art studio, gallery, meeting room, photography studio, meditation space, treatment room etc.
Access
We have a designated car park for up to 8 vehicles located adjacent to our private road. The studio is then accessed by a short 2 minute walk along the driveway.
We also have limited parking located closer to the studios, if required. Please give us advanced notice if this parking is required.
There are steps up to the property from the driveway, or it is possible to continue along the driveway and circumnavigate them, if required.
The second studio and bathroom facilities are located on the first floor. We can offer ground floor bathroom facilities in our adjacent property, with prior notice. Please note that neither facilities have full disabled access.

Studio Hire Rates
The Main Studio: £40 per hour for room only (between 09:00-18:00). Access to the kitchen, bathroom and outdoor seating area is included.
The Top Studio: £25 per hour for room only (between 09:00-18:00). Access to the kitchen, bathroom and outdoor seating area is included.
There is a 25% discount on hire charges for block bookings of 3 or more sessions.
Complimentary tea and coffee is included within the hire charges. We can also provide further catering, if required. Please indicate your requirements when completing your enquiry.
Equipment Hire
In order to facilitate your needs when renting the spaces, the following equipment is available to hire:
– 6ft trestle tables x 6
– folding chairs x 12
– A/V equipment bundle including: Projector (model ViewSonic PA503S), projector & laptop stand, 60” portable projector screen.
– Photography studio equipment bundle including: Backdrop stand 1.6x3m, backdrop cloths in black, white & green, 5x lighting stands with 45w lights, 3x soft box, 2x reflecting umbrellas.
– Painting equipment bundle including: A trio of water pots, a set of 12 watercolour brushes, a 6 well mixing palette. 10 sets available.
