Printmaking Course – Event Details

Overview:

On this printmaking course, you will learn how to create wonderfully expressive prints using both the mono-printing and dry point etching processes. Furthermore, you learn how to create vibrant and colourful background pieces by exploring watercolour techniques.

Due to the guided practice and practical demonstrations offered throughout the course, it is suitable for all ability levels. Please note that attendees are limited to 8 people to ensure that everyone can receive the help and support that they require.

The course will be led by Sharon Brookes who is a practising artist and fully qualified art teacher with nearly 30 years’ experience of teaching art.

The Course Options:

• The weekend course runs from Saturday-Sunday, 10:30am to 3:30pm on each day and offers a comprehensive programme on printmaking techniques..

During the printmaking course, we will explore:

• Firstly, you will learn how to develop a drawn image suitable for printmaking.
• You will then receive step-by-step practical demonstrations on how to translate your designs in to print using the mono-printing technique. This technique involves tracing your designs directly in to dry ink to create a print.
• Furthermore, you will also learn how to create a dry point etching print by transferring your design on to an etching plate. You will learn how to etch your design using specialist pens plus how to ink up your completed plates for print.
• Lastly, you will have fun exploring expressive watercolour techniques to be used for backgrounds for your prints.
• By the end of the printmaking course, you will aim to achieve a series of effective prints which you can then proudly take home.
