Overview:
During the flora and fauna photography course, the emphasis will be on produce stunning and creative images developed during a photo walk in an AONB as well as within a professional studio.
You will be fully tutored through practical workshops in order to help you develop more professional and artistic still life and landscape photography.
Due to the guided practice and practical demonstrations offered throughout the course, it is suitable for all ability levels. Please note that attendees are limited to 8 people so to ensure that everyone can receive the help and support that they require.
The course will be led by Sharon Brookes who is a practising artist-photographer and a fully qualified art teacher with nearly 30 years’ experience of teaching.
The Course Timings:
- The weekend course runs from Saturday-Sunday, 10:30am to 3:30pm on each day and offers a comprehensive programme of photography.
During the flora and fauna photography course, you will:
- Depending on your experience level, you will learn/review the basics of how to shoot in manual mode and how to adjust camera settings.
- Develop your technical ability and confidence to be able to shoot effectively in more challenging lighting conditions and for different purposes.
- Experiment with creative approaches to shooting still life and landscape which deliver effective and more sophisticated results.
- Encourage an interest or renewed vigour for photography.
What’s included:
- Expert guidance by a fully qualified art teacher
- Practical demonstrations and exercises on camera settings, studio photography and shooting outside.
- A photo walk in the surrounding nature reserves and woodlands.
- Course notes to take home.
- All props and sets to use on the day.
- A simple lunch plus tea and coffee on each day.
What you will need to bring:
- Your DSLR or mirrorless camera.
- Lenses suitable for still life and landscape photography such as a 35mm, 50mm, 75mm.
- Your camera instruction manual.
- A tripod, if you have one.
- An automatic shutter release, if you have one.
- Suitable footwear and clothing for working outside.

We can arrange large-print scripts, if required. Please let us know on booking if you would like to access them. Please note that our bathroom facilities are located on the first floor. Owing to the nature of the course, you will be accessing outside areas that have uneven ground.
