Expressive Florals Course – Event Details

Overview:

During the expressive florals course, you will learn how to confidently manipulate and experiment with watercolour in order to achieve exciting and vibrant floral compositions. You will be expertly guided step-by-step in order for you to gain a fuller understanding of the genre. What’s more, you will be fully tutored in the fundamentals such as how to create accurate shapes, reflections and depth. All will be revealed in this jam-packed creative course.

Experience level:

The art course is suitable for all ability levels as great care will be taken to tailor the course to specific needs. Beginners are most welcome.

Attendees are limited to 8 to ensure that everyone can receive the help and support that they need.

About the tutor:

The course will be led by Sharon Brookes who is the proprietor and lead tutor of Backbury House Retreats. She has a degree in Art, is a practising artist as well as a fully qualified art teacher with nearly 30 years’ experience of teaching in a range of educational settings.

The Course Timings:

The weekend course runs from Saturday-Sunday, 10:30am to 3:30pm on each day and offers a comprehensive programme.

During the expressive florals course, you will:

• Firstly, you will be expertly guided, step-by-step in how to draw accurate floral compositions. You will learn the fundamentals, such as how to draw ellipses etc.
• Next, you will be able to fully experiment with a range of watercolour techniques in order to gain in confidence and ability in painting.
• Lastly, you will have plenty of opportunity to put into practice what you have learnt and achieve quality floral paintings demonstrating a fuller understanding of the genre.

• All watercolour materials to use on the day.

Access:

• We offer free designated car parking for up to 8 vehicles found next to our private road. The studio is then accessed by a short 2-minute walk.
• In addition, we also have parking for two cars found closer to the studio requiring reduced walking and no steps.
• Please note that our studio bathroom facilities are found on the first floor accessed by a set of stairs. We can provide alternative ground floor facilities, if needed.
