Overview:
On this beginner’s drawing and painting course, you will learn about the elements and principles of art. For example, you will learn how to apply line, tone and colour more effectively within your drawings and paintings.
Due to the fully guided practice and practical demonstrations offered throughout the course, it is suitable for beginners. However, great care will be taken to tailor the still life fundamentals course to your specific needs, regardless of creative ability. Please note that attendees are limited to 8 people to ensure that everyone can receive the help and support that they require.
The beginner’s drawing and painting course will be led by Sharon Brookes who is a practising artist and fully qualified art teacher with nearly 30 years’ experience of teaching art.
The weekend course runs from Saturday-Sunday, 10:30am to 3:30pm on each day and offers a fully comprehensive programme.
During the beginner’s drawing and painting course, you will:
- Firstly, you will be guided through the theory (the elements of art) in order to support your understanding and practice in drawing and painting.
- Following practical demonstration, you will then complete still life drawing exercises applying the elements, such as line, tone and texture. You will be fully supported in this work to ensure that you make good progress in your understanding and practice.
- Building on this, you will learn how to confidently manipulate and experiment with watercolour in order to achieve exciting and vibrant colour work.
- Furthermore, you will be introduced to other artist’s work to learn how the masters do it in order to gain inspiration.
- Lastly, you will learn how to achieve finer details and increasing control in your work. You will aim to achieve accomplished still life paintings which combines the elements of art effectively.
