DESCRIPTION:Beginner’s Drawing Workshop – Event Details\nOverview:\nDuring the beginner’s drawing workshop\, you will be guided step-by-step in order build your skills and confidence levels in drawing. This is a short\, comprehensive taster session for you to learn and practise the fundamentals. \nExperience level:\nThis workshop is suitable for beginners to improvers as there will be guided instruction throughout. Attendees will be limited to 8 to ensure that everyone will receive individual support. \nAbout the tutor:\nThe workshop will be led by Sharon Brookes who is the proprietor and lead tutor of Backbury House Retreats. She has a degree in Art\, is a practising artist as well as a fully qualified art teacher with nearly 30 years’ experience of teaching in a range of educational settings. \nThe workshop timings:\nThe workshop runs from 1pm-4pm. Please arrive for 12:45 for welcome drinks. \nExample of the workshop programme:\n\nFirstly\, we will be exploring techniques\, and you will practice achieving different marks\, tones and textures using pencil.\nFollowing\, you will apply tonal shading focusing on highlights and shadows to develop your understanding of how to draw accurate forms. Furthermore\, we will explore how to create depth and perspective in your work.\nAfterwards\, you will consolidate your learning by achieving a more final image applying a range of drawing techniques which will more fully explore the elements previously learnt.\n\nWhat’s included:\n\nExpert guidance by a fully qualified art teacher.\nPractical demonstrations and exercises on drawing.\nA course pack to take home.\nAll art materials to use on the day.\nTea or coffee.\n\nWhat you will need to bring:\nJust yourself! We include all materials and refreshments for your convenience. \nAccess:\n\nWe offer free designated car parking for up to 8 vehicles found next to our private road. The studio is then accessed by a short 2-minute walk.\nIn addition\, we also have parking for two cars found closer to the studio requiring reduced walking and no steps.\nPlease note that our studio bathroom facilities are found on the first floor accessed by a set of stairs. However\, we can arrange alternative ground floor facilities\, with advanced notice.\n\nFor further details on access\, please consult our studio facilities page. DESCRIPTION:Expressive Florals Course – Event Details\nOverview:\nDuring the expressive florals course\, you will learn how to confidently manipulate and experiment with different watercolour technique including liquid and powdered colours. What’s more\, you will be fully tutored in the fundamentals such as how to create accurate shapes\, reflections and depth. All will be revealed in this jam-packed creative course. \nExperience level:\nThis art course is suitable for beginners to improvers as there will be guided instruction throughout. Attendees will be limited to 8 to ensure that everyone will receive individual support. \nAbout the tutor:\nThe course will be led by Sharon Brookes who is the proprietor and lead tutor of Backbury House Retreats. She has a degree in Art\, is a practising artist as well as a fully qualified art teacher with nearly 30 years’ experience of teaching in a range of educational settings. \nThe Course Timings:\nThe course runs from Saturday-Sunday\, 10:30am to 3:30pm on each day and offers a comprehensive programme. \nExample of the course programme:\n\nFirstly\, you will be expertly guided\, step-by-step in how to draw accurate floral compositions. You will learn the fundamentals\, such as how to draw ellipses etc.\nNext\, you will be able to fully experiment with a range of watercolour techniques in order to gain in confidence and ability in painting.
